About the role
About OpenLoop
OpenLoop was co-founded by CEO, Dr. Jon Lensing, and COO, Christian Williams, with the vision to bring care anywhere. Our telehealth support solutions are thoughtfully designed to streamline and simplify go-to-market care delivery for companies offering meaningful virtual support to patients across an expansive array of specialties, in all 50 states.
About the Role
Every prescription written on OpenLoop's platform has to reach the right pharmacy, get filled and get to the patient quickly and compliantly. Behind that is a web of e-prescribing platforms, EHR and clinical apps, and partner, mail-order and compounding pharmacies.
We're hiring a Pharmacy Engineer to own those integrations end to end. You'll become the expert on every pharmacy's software stack, make sure no prescription gets stuck, keep our workflows compliant, and onboard new pharmacy partners as we grow.
What You'll Do
Build and maintain prescription and pharmacy integrations. Own e-prescribing and order-routing integrations between the EHR and clinical apps (e.g., Healthie) and partner, mail-order and compounding pharmacies, including e-prescribing platforms (Surescripts, DoseSpot), NCPDP SCRIPT standards and partner APIs.
Keep prescription systems reliable. Maintain the integrity of the software lifecycle to ensure patients receive the accurate medication in a timely manner, and build alerts and dashboards that catch stuck or failed orders before they delay a patient's medication.
Keep pharmacy workflows compliant. Support EPCS (electronic prescribing of controlled substances), PDMP checks, state pharmacy rules and HIPAA controls on PHI. Keep audit trails, access controls and documentation ready for regulatory and partner reviews.
Bring on and manage pharmacy partners. Lead the technical onboarding of new pharmacy POS, software and hardware (data mapping, formulary and medication catalog setup, testing and go-live) and track partner performance, SLAs and integration-issue resolution.
Automate and improve operations. Work with Clinical Ops, Patient Support and Engineering to automate manual pharmacy tasks such as refills, prior auth handoffs, exception handling and patient status updates. Look for places where AI can reduce ticket volume and speed up fulfillment.
Learn every pharmacy's stack. Understand each pharmacy's prescribing, shipment and compliance software, and recommend replacements and integrations that improve inventory and compliance tracking.
Who You Are
You know pharmacy systems from the inside: how a prescription actually moves, where it breaks, and what the regulations require. You like owning a workflow end to end, you're comfortable reading API docs and debugging integrations, and you care that the result is a patient getting their medication on time.
Our Benefits
In addition, for salaried positions you would also be eligible for:
Medical, Dental, and Vision plans
Flexible Spending/Health Savings Accounts
Flexible PTO
401(k) + Company Match
Life Insurance, Pet insurance, and more
Our Company
We have a relatively flat organizational structure here at OpenLoop. Everyone is encouraged to bring ideas to the table and make things happen. This fits in well with our core values of Autonomy, Competence and Belonging, as we want everyone to feel empowered and supported to do their best work.
Sound like a good fit? We’d love to meet you.
