Our client is looking for a senior-level Systems Engineer to take meaningful ownership across a broad portfolio of critical infrastructure in a service provider environment. This role spans customer-facing platforms, shared engineering services, and cross-functional initiatives — requiring someone equally comfortable operating independently and working alongside peer teams. This is a high-visibility, high-ownership position. The right candidate brings strong technical depth, an automation mindset, and the discipline to see work through from design to documentation. Contract-to-hire is standard practice at our company and applies to all new engineering engagements. You will own technical workstreams from planning through implementation, validation, and operational handoff and administer and improve Linux-based production systems across multiple service domains. You will engineer and support name resolution and address management infrastructure and support customer-facing network performance and service delivery platforms. You will Support enterprise identity, authentication, and administrative access control systems. This role will develop and maintain configuration automation, templated deployments, and version-controlled workflows and identify and eliminate manual effort through scripting, standardization, and operational tooling. This is a small but might team that supports all of the service provider infrastructure so we need someone that can take initiative and own processes from start to finish. This role is fully remote and the goal is to convert someone after the initial contract duration.

Skills and Requirements

•7+ years in systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or senior platform support •Strong Linux systems administration and production troubleshooting •Strong configuration automation and Infrastructure as Code experience in production contexts • Experience with Ansible • Basic networking knowledge/exposure •Experience owning work across multiple infrastructure domains — not a single narrow platform •Demonstrated ability to take technical projects from planning through documentation •Experience in high-availability environments with formal change control and operational accountability •Ability to interpret logs, metrics, and telemetry for troubleshooting and performance analysis •Strong written and verbal communication; capable of working independently under shifting priorities •ISP, telecom, hosting, or managed services environment experience •Experience with enterprise DNS and DHCP platforms in production service provider environments •Experience with network-based performance testing or customer-facing service delivery infrastructure •Experience with network access control, AAA frameworks, and administrative access policy platforms •Red Hat Enterprise Linux or equivalent enterprise Linux distribution
