Process Engineer – Asset Lifecycle Management & ITAD Operations
Job Summary
Iron Mountain Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) is seeking an experienced and hands-on Process Engineer to evaluate, standardize, and optimize operational workflows across multiple facilities. Supporting our IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) operations—spanning receiving, sorting, testing, data sanitization, refurbishment, and shipping—this role works directly with floor teams to identify root causes of process gaps, eliminate waste, and implement practical solutions that drive measurable gains in productivity, ergonomics, and quality.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
In this role, you will:
Assess & Improve Floor Operations: Visit facilities, observe frontline workflows, and partner with operators and site leaders to identify discrepancies between actual work and standard procedures.
Apply Lean & Eliminate Root Causes: Map material and information flows, perform root-cause analysis on bottlenecks and rework queues, and use Lean methodologies (5S, VSM, Kaizen, standard work) to streamline operations.
Standardize & Document Workflows: Author standard operating procedures (SOPs), visual job aids, and work instructions that establish consistent, repeatable practices across multiple sites while accounting for localized variations.
Analyze Capacity & Metrics: Conduct time and motion studies to assess cycle times, labor utilization, and throughput, tracking KPIs such as first-pass yield, processing time, and unit processing costs.
Enhance Workstations & Systems: Optimize floor layouts, tooling, and ergonomics to reduce motion waste and fatigue, while collaborating with IT/Operations to streamline serialized asset tracking and data entry.
What You’ll Bring (Skills & Qualifications)
The ideal candidate will have:
Professional Experience: 3–5 years of experience in process engineering, industrial engineering, continuous improvement, or related operational optimization roles.
Lean & Technical Background: Practical expertise applying Lean principles within manufacturing, refurbishment, warehousing, or reverse logistics environments (Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus).
Analytical & Communication Skills: High proficiency in spreadsheet modeling (Excel/Google Sheets) to interpret operational data, paired with strong communication and project leadership skills to train and influence multi-site teams.
Industry Acumen (Preferred): Prior exposure to ITAD, electronics recycling/refurbishment, serialized asset tracking/WMS systems, or enterprise IT hardware (servers, laptops, GPUs, networking).
Education & Travel: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience) and willingness to travel regularly domestically with occasional international trips.
What We Offer (Benefits)
Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits packages aligned with your experience level.
Work-Life Balance: Generous paid time off, holiday schedules, and travel flexibility.
Health & Well-being: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, wellness programs, and retirement plans.
Growth: Continuous learning, mentorship, and career advancement within an innovative global organization.
