Job Description

A client is seeking a hands-on VDI / Azure Virtual Desktop Engineer to support a large portfolio of virtual desktop initiatives. This engineer will work across both Citrix and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), supporting existing environments while helping build new VDI infrastructure in Azure and on-premises.

This is an ideal opportunity for a well-rounded virtualization engineer who enjoys solving problems, building environments, and working across multiple infrastructure technologies. The team operates in a fast-moving environment where priorities can shift between Citrix, AVD, Windows, VMware, Hyper-V, and related infrastructure needs.

The successful candidate must have meaningful, hands-on experience with both Citrix and Azure Virtual Desktop. The experience does not need to be evenly split (as off as 70/30 is OK), but candidates should be able to independently troubleshoot, configure, build, and support both technologies.

Skills and Requirements

○ Hands-on engineering experience with Citrix virtual application or desktop environments ○ Hands-on engineering experience with Azure Virtual Desktop ○ Strong background supporting, configuring, troubleshooting, or building VDI environments ○ Experience working with Windows Server and Windows desktop operating systems ○ Understanding of virtualization and virtual-machine infrastructure ○ Foundational networking knowledge, including: § IPv4 § Subnets § VLANs ○ Ability to clearly explain personal, hands-on responsibilities within previous Citrix and AVD environments ○ Ability to independently troubleshoot and complete technical work across multiple infrastructure areas ○ Comfortable working in an environment where priorities and technical assignments may change quickly Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills ○ Working knowledge of VMware ○ Experience with Hyper-V ○ Experience building new VDI environments from the ground up ○ Experience supporting a combination of Azure and on-premises infrastructure ○ Broader experience with Azure infrastructure and cloud-based virtualization ○ Exposure to security-driven or compliance-focused infrastructure environments ○ Experience supporting data-center builds or infrastructure deployments ○ Familiarity with networking concepts as they relate to VDI and virtual infrastructure
