About the role
**Summary:**
Meta is building the physical infrastructure that powers some of the world's largest and most complex computing systems. As a Network Hardware Engineer on the Infrastructure Systems team, you will design, develop, and validate network hardware including rack-level hardware solutions that underpin Meta's global data center fleet. In this role, you will work across the full hardware development lifecycle — from architecture definition and component selection through bring-up, characterization, and production qualification — ensuring that Meta's infrastructure hardware meets the performance, reliability, and efficiency demands of hyperscale deployment.
**Required Skills:**
Network Hardware Engineer Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop network, rack, and infrastructure hardware systems including compute, storage, and networking platforms for large-scale data center deployments
2. Define hardware architecture and system-level specifications in collaboration with mechanical, electrical, thermal, and firmware engineering teams
3. Lead component evaluation and selection, including processors, memory, storage devices, power delivery components, and interconnects
4. Conduct hardware bring-up, functional validation, and characterization of prototype systems to verify compliance with design specifications
5. Develop and execute hardware validation test plans covering performance, reliability, thermal, and power integrity requirements
6. Analyze failure modes and drive root cause investigations for hardware issues identified during validation or production
7. Collaborate with supply chain, contract manufacturers, and ODM partners to support design-for-manufacturability reviews and production ramp
8. Contribute to hardware design reviews, generating and reviewing technical documentation including specifications, schematics, and test reports
9. Work with data center operations and deployment teams to ensure hardware designs meet operational requirements at scale
10. Track hardware program milestones, communicate technical risks, and drive resolution across cross-functional stakeholders
**Minimum Qualifications:**
Minimum Qualifications:
11. B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or a related engineering degree
12. 6+ years of experience in hardware systems engineering, including switches, rack, or data center infrastructure platforms
13. Experience with system-level hardware design and validation across power delivery, thermal management, and signal integrity domains
14. Experience defining hardware specifications and working with ODM or OEM partners through the product development lifecycle
15. Experience performing root cause analysis and failure investigation on complex hardware systems
16. Experience collaborating across firmware, software, and mechanical engineering teams to resolve system-level integration challenges
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Preferred Qualifications:
17. Experience with industry-standard EDA tools for developing and reviewing PCB designs
18. Experience with designing ASIC verification and bring up hardware
19. Knowledge of Linux for hardware validation and troubleshooting
20. Familiarity with high-speed interconnect technologies such as PCIe, CXL, or Ethernet at the system architecture and design level
21. Background in hardware platform bring-up and qualification for large-scale production environments
22. Experience with power efficiency analysis and optimization across rack-scale or fleet-level infrastructure deployment
23. Experience with open compute or other custom server platform development for hyperscale data center environments
24. M.S. in electrical engineering or computer engineering
