Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a principle full stack engineer to support our client in the FinTech industry. This role is heavily focused on backend development and offers the opportunity to play a key role in modernizing the company's platform. On a daily basis, you'll gather and analyze business requirements, translate those requirements into technical designs, document architectural decisions and system changes, and develop backend applications and APIs using Python. Responsibilities also include writing and executing unit tests, conducting testing in development environments, supporting UAT efforts, and troubleshooting complex system issues. A significant portion of the work centers around rewriting the existing 1.0 platform into a modern headless architecture, with the current focus being almost entirely backend development. Once the backend transformation is complete, the roadmap includes expanding into frontend development initiatives. The team is also leveraging AI agents for automation and bug detection, with an AI-driven bug detection platform currently in UAT ahead of the 2.0 release. This is an ideal environment for someone who enjoys focused, heads-down development work. This role is remote with travel a couple times a year and fulltime.

Skills and Requirements

8+ years of relevant software engineering experience Strong Python development experience Object-oriented API development using Python Claude experience Strong SQL development skills with clean, semantic SQL Experience consuming enterprise APIs via REST, JSON, XML, and SOAP Strong understanding of relational and/or non-relational databases CI/CD development and deployment experience HTML and CSS expertise Ability to document technical designs and translate business requirements into technical solutions Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience .NET experience React development experience Knowledge of modern authentication and authorization methods FinTech industry experience AWS CodePipeline experience Prior leadership experience
